Field Deployable Tactical Distribution Fibre Optic Cables are designed for military communications, weapons control, remote control links and operation in severe environments. These cables are also ideally suited for use in outside broadcast applications. They have been extensively tested and used by armed forces worldwide. They are designed to meet, and in many cases exceed, the following standards for field-deployable cable:
- MIL-PRF-85045/8A (US Department Of Defence)
- TFOCA and TFOCA II® (US Army)
- A3159879 (US Army Communications-Electronics Command)
- Def-Stan 60-1, Part 3 (UK Ministry Of Defence)
- DOD certified facility for MIL-STD-790, Product Assurance Program
Along with these military accreditations all our assemblies are serialised for full traceability under our ISO 9001:2015 procedures, and are supplied with a test report.
Rugged tight buffered fibres are strengthened with aramid yarns and jacketed with water, sunlight, chemical and abrasion-resistant polyurethane. These cables are tough and very flexible for repeated deployment/retrieval applications such as field communications. Fibres are color-coded for easy identification.
Tech Optics also supply and manufacture assemblies using qualified cables and connectors for a range of harsh environment applications including civil and military aerospace.

Shipboard Cable (MIL-PRF-85045)
Shipboard LSZH Fibre Optic cable uses a tight buffered water blocked construction with high quality low smoke zero halogen materials. The cable adheres to the United States DoD specification MIL-PRF-85045 and is offered in one four and eight fibre configurations.
The optical fibre cable construction consists of fibres protected within a 900 micron tight buffer, reinforced with aramid yarn within a LSZH sub-cable jacket of 2.0mm diameter.
The optical fibres are radiation resistant and qualified to the applicable MIL-PRF-49291 specification to ensure system survivability in the event of radiation exposure.
This family of cables has passed a stringent qualification programme to ensure full compliance with MIL-PRF-85045F and applicable specification sheets. The test programme includes tests for acid gas generation, halogen content, smoke generation, flame propagation, toxicity, fluid immersion, thermal shock, humidity, electromagnetic resistance, low / high pressure salt water blocking.
These shipboard cables are watertight, flexible and gigabit ready.

Gore Fibre Optic Cable
Benefits
GORE Fibre Optic Cables provide system architects and engineers with many benefits that improve electrical and mechanical performance such as:
- exceptional signal integrity for constant high-speed data transmission
- superior electrical performance, minimizing the need to boost signals
- proven stable performance before/after installation, during use and over time
- impressive level of robustness due to unique buffering systems for extended service life
- tolerate demanding environments like weather, temperatures, terrain, and vibration
- smaller, lighter weight constructions save space during installation
- easier routing due to greater flexibility and a tighter bend radius
- variety of single-/multi-mode versions suitable for many bandwidth-intensive applications
1.8 mm Simplex
We designed our most popular Simplex version with a remarkable dual buffering system that resists crushing, kinking, and abrasion while maintaining excellent signal integrity before/after installation. When tested, results proved that our cables provided greater crush resistance unmatched by the leading alternatives. Our cables allow for lower force to move the fiber under compression while still maintaining excellent signal transmission. These single-/multi-mode cables deliver improved reliability and longevity in a robust design without sacrificing size or weight.
This version of our Simplex cables has a rugged buffering system that withstands extreme temperatures, shock, vibration, and tension that can severely impact overall system performance in ground combat/support vehicles. These single-/multi-mode fiber optic cables deliver stable optical performance for high data rate transfer in the most demanding operational conditions.
Qualifications
GORE Fiber Optic Cables, 1.2 mm Simplex have undergone substantial qualification testing to ensure they meet stringent specifications of the most current military standards and our customers’ requirements.
- ANSI/NEMA WC 27500 Performance Requirements: Environmental Testing, Jacket and Marking
- BSS 7238: Smoke Density
- BSS 7239: Toxicity
