HAND TOOLS

Miller No-Nik Buffer Strippers

Typical Fibre No-Nik Strippers

An inexpensive hand-held tool for removing the primary and secondary buffer coatings from optical fibres.

These tools are made with cutting apertures accurate to 0.0005" and mechanically strip fibre coatings with no nicks, cuts or scratches.

For removing secondary coatings of 900µm from 125µm clad fibres, select the blue or white handled tool, for 250µm loose tube fibres, select the red handled tool from the table. Optical fibres with cladding diameters greater than 125µm may be successfully stripped using the appropriate No-Nik buffer stripping tool.

Notes on using No-Nik stripping tools:
Each tool has an arrow showing the direction of stripping; holding the tool in the right hand the arrow should be on top; holding the tool in the left hand the arrow should be under the tool.
Don't try and strip all the buffer in one go, take three or four 'bites' at it to remove the coating. Between each strip clean the tool by opening the jaws and pulling the plastic covers back and releasing. Leaving debris in the blades between strips can cause fibre breakage.

Other cutting diameter tools can be supplied to order from the extensive range from Miller.
