Hand Held Inspection Probe at Patch Panel
Inspection probes allow viewing of connectors assembled inside patch panels or in the back plane without the need to remove the equipment or hardware to view the fibre. The probes comprise a miniature camera and light source to provide the illumination. The probes fit comfortably into the hand and are connected to either a portable display or, with the digital probe, to a computer to allow image capture. A range of tips are available for viewing different types of connectors mounted in adaptors or in the back plane.
| Probes are available with different magnification values and can be chosen to operate with either a hand held display or, in a digital version, with a PC or laptop computer. The image to the right was taken with a 400 times digital probe using a 'patchcord' tip to inspect a multimode fibre. |

Digital probes come complete with basic software for use with W95/98/2000/ME/XP operating systems. Load the software and then "Plug and Play". Power to the probe is provided by the computer through the USB port. Images can be captured using either the capture button on the probe or on the converter. The captured image can be saved and recalled at any time in the future and can be inserted, as with any image format, into many other types of application.
