Power Meter and Light Source
-Now with Protective Rubber Boots
This product range offers the complete solution necessary for
the installer to test, terminate and trouble shoot fibre optic
systems. The OLK51 series is designed to allow testing of all
parameters of fibre optic networks, including output power levels
from the fibre, coupled source power and attenuation loss in a
cable. Power Meters and Light Sources may be purchased individually
or in kits; the table below gives examples of the multimode and
singlemode kits with links to the individual component specifications.
We offer complete test kits for both multimode and singlemode
applications. The OLK51-MM is designed for multimode use and the
OLK51-SM is for singlemode use. The power meter has a modular
adaptor port that will accept a wide
range of connector adaptors; the source has a fixed adaptor port,
ST for multimode and a choice of ST, SC or FC for singlemode.
Launch cables are required for making power meter measurements
and these are not included with the basic kit, as users generally
have their own preferences for length, fibre size and connector
styles. These custom made assemblies
are available from Tech Optics.

OM120
The OM120 Fibre Optic Power Meter is calibrated at 4 wavelengths
(850nm, 1300nm, 1310nm and 1550nm) to +/-0.2dB of the NIST standard
for each wavelength through the dynamic range of the meter. The
OM120 is designed to measure loss (attenuation) and output power
of both multimode and singlemode systems. The OM120 1mm germanium
detector is potted in a threaded housing for versatility and allows
the user to interchange adaptors for numerous connector types.
Power meters with a larger area detector diode are available for
special applications, such as when using 200 micron core optical
fibres. Contact Tech Optics for details.

OM220 (Data Storage)
The OM220 has the same high performance as the OM120 with the
added advantage of user selectable choice of 0.1 or 0.01 resolution,
an on-board memory and a serial port connection for communication
with a PC or lap-top computer. Computer software is included with
the meter for easy documentation of test results. The OM220 is
supplied calibrated at 4 operating wavelengths, 850nm, 1300nm,
1310nm and 1550nm, to +/-0.2dB of the NIST standard for each wavelength
through the dynamic range of the meter. The meter operates with
a 2mm diameter germanium photodiode potted in a threaded housing
to allow modular connector adaptation

LED Source |
For multimode applications the OS420 source has two active device
mount LEDs, one at 850nm and the other at 1300nm and has fixed
ST connector ports. Selection of wavelength is made with a switch
on the front panel. Indicator LEDs show which wavelength is selected
and low battery power.

Laser Source |
The OS430 Laser Source is for singlemode applications and comprises
two laser components, one at 1310nm and the other at 1550nm. They
are coupled to a single output with a choice of fixed connector
style. Selection of wavelength is made with a switch on the front
panel. The unit also provides selection of CW or 2kHz tone operation.
Each laser has its own user adjustable trim pot for optimising
the optical power output.
