The Fitel fibre cleaver is a precision stapler-type cleaver which uses a ceramic blade to nick the optical fibre. The fibre is then bent on a leaf spring causing it to break cleanly giving a square cut to the fibre end. The leaf spring is graduated so that exact cleave lengths can be obtained making the tool ideal for use in all types of splicing. The Fitel S315 Single Fibre Field Cleavers are designed for cleaving fibre in the field quickly and easily. The S315 Field Cleaver can accommodate 0.25mm and 0.9mm coating diameters and their small lightweight size makes them the perfect addition to any field splicing system. The S315 field cleaver requires some skill to achieve the desired cleave angle and may not be appropriate for some splicing applications. The S315 has a graduated scale, which allows for cleave lengths of 5 to 20mm. Typical results yield 98% of the cleaves to be within a cutting angle of less than 2 degrees. The ceramic blade gives hundreds of excellent cleaves and is a replacement item in the tool. |

Designed as an easy to use, fast cleaving tool, the Clauss Cleaver provides an endface angle of 3 degrees or less and will cleave 125µm clad optical fibres with a 200µm or larger buffer coating. The tool has a factory replaceable carbide blade designed to yield consistent cleaves for up to 1,000 uses. Cleave length is adjustable from 6.35mm to 19mm. |
