Using an inspection probe with the appropriate tip and guide
allows a quick and easy inspection of an array fibre. The probe
tip has -x and -y pan and scroll adjustment to view each of the
fibres in an array. The picture top left shows the probe tip inserted in to a guide for the Molex AR8 array fibre; each element of the AR8 is inspected by moving down the numbered slots in the guide. This allows inspection of the 192 fibres making up the complete AR8 connector assembly. |

With FiberChek2 software, providing a report could not be easier. Presented in either HTML or Adobe Acrobat format as desired, the report provides detailed information of the fibre under inspection. In the example shown right, the fibre is divided in to 3 zones, identified by colour rings and the image presented in both low and high magnifications. FiberChek2 comes with ready installed profiles for immediate use, or the user can create his own profile to meet his own needs. FiberChek2 compares the inspected image with the selected profile and produces either a Fail or Pass report. In the example shown there is a small scratch in the cladding of a fibre in the array. This is highlighted in green by FiberChek2 since it has been accepted as a Pass by the profile in use at the time. Data relating to this scratch is shown in the table above the images. FiberChek2 allows different users to consistently inspect optical fibres to the same standard and removes the errors generated by different perceptions of the same image. Test and reporting just got a whole lot easier ! |
